Bayt Al-Saddu Hosts Embroidery Workshop

“Bayt Al Sadu” hosted a specialized workshop titled “Embroidery Using the Nafash Needle Technique,” presented by trainers Badriya Al-Asfour and Mustowa Al-Shehhan, as part of the “Cultural Summer 18” events. The workshop brought together a group of trainees in an interactive atmosphere that reflected their enthusiasm for learning one of the arts of hand embroidery and its innovative techniques.
The workshop saw active participation from the trainees, who engaged in hands-on experience working with wool threads and shaping them onto fabrics according to various artistic designs. It provided participants with the opportunity to closely explore three-dimensional embroidery techniques, transforming threads into raised shapes that lend a unique aesthetic touch to the pieces. The trainers offered a comprehensive explanation of the basics of using the Nafash needle, outlining the work steps and tools involved before gradually moving on to practical applications.
Al-Asfour and Al-Shehhan explained to the trainees that the Nafash needle can be used in a variety of applications, including decorating bags, hats, and clothing for adults and children, as well as carpets, paintings, and other artistic works. They highlighted the possibility of employing this technique through multiple methods that blend traditional heritage with a modern touch.
They noted that embroidery with the Nafash needle is not as difficult as some might think, but it requires practice, concentration, and patience, especially when executing fine details. They considered that working with it is very similar to carving or drawing, as each stitch requires care and precision to ultimately form the desired image or design.
