North Korea Shows Interest in Trump's Initiatives for Dialogue

South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-byeok said on Thursday that his country estimates North Korea possesses between 80 and 120 nuclear warheads, and believes Pyongyang is interested in dialogue initiatives proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The minister declined to answer parliamentary questions about whether Seoul was aware of any behind-the-scenes talks between Pyongyang and Washington regarding the possibility of holding a summit.

Ahn also stated that Trump’s claim that North Korea has produced 57 nuclear weapons differs from South Korea’s estimate, which ranges from 80 to 120 warheads.
