Al-Hawila: Al-Azmi's membership in the World Blind Union... an achievement

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, stated that the selection of Wadha Al-Azmi as a member of the Youth Committee of the World Blind Union to represent the Asian continent marks the first achievement of its kind for Kuwait and the Gulf region. It reflects the ability of Kuwaiti youth to participate and represent their country on international platforms, and enhances Kuwait’s standing and reputation in supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
In a statement today following her meeting with Al-Azmi, Al-Huwail reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities, providing them with opportunities to actively participate at both local and international levels, thereby highlighting their capabilities and contributions across various fields.
She added that Al-Azmi’s selection was part of the Youth Committee, which comprises six representatives, each representing one of the world’s continents.
Al-Huwail noted that during the meeting, she was briefed on the role of the World Blind Union, which includes hundreds of organizations from more than 190 countries and represents approximately 335 million blind and visually impaired people worldwide. The Union works to promote their rights, empower them, and ensure their full participation in society.
