Bin Farhan: We continue efforts to de-escalate and prevent the resumption of tensions and conflicts

Minister bin Farhan held the third Strategic Dialogue meeting with Motegi, during which he emphasized in his opening remarks that the Kingdom places great importance on its long-standing, decades-old relations with Japan, which are built on mutual trust and respect.

He noted that Japan is an important economic partner for the Kingdom, adding that the Kingdom looks forward to continuing to develop these ties and leveraging the economic opportunities available to both countries. He said, “We see promising prospects for expanding cooperation in investment, energy, resources, supply chains, defense, and technology, as well as in the exchange of expertise and capabilities, in ways that support our priorities and achieve our shared objectives.”

Bin Farhan affirmed that the Kingdom will remain a reliable partner for Japan across various sectors, including energy, and he commended Japan’s efforts and initiatives that contribute to enhancing economic resilience and stabilizing global energy and trade markets.

He further stated that maritime security ranks among the shared priorities of the two countries, stressing the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in all international waterways in accordance with international law, and the necessity of keeping the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab al-Mandab, and all other sea lanes open, secure, and free from any threats.

Concluding his remarks, he said, “The Kingdom continues its efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent the recurrence of conflicts, by focusing on comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the root causes of instability in our region. We reaffirm that diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful means remain our top priorities, and we value Japan’s role in upholding the principles of international law, its humanitarian and developmental contributions, and its supportive stance toward stability and peaceful solutions.”
