India denies statements attributed to Modi criticizing Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, and Pakistan

The office confirmed that the circulating video, which shows Modi during his Independence Day address, is “fake and digitally altered,” stressing that the Indian Prime Minister did not make any of the statements contained in the clip.

The office clarified that the video circulating on social media includes remarks concerning Israel, Turkey, and Pakistan, urging the public not to be swayed by misleading or “sensational” content and to verify information through official government sources.

This comes after the video spread widely in Arabic, featuring statements attributed to Modi regarding several countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and Turkey, along with references to the Israeli Prime Minister.

The Indian side emphasized that the video does not reflect the substance of Modi’s actual Independence Day address, calling on people to refer to the full recording of the speech to verify its content.

The official Indian denial asserts that the statements contained in the circulating video “do not represent the position of the Indian Prime Minister or the Indian government,” and that the clip has been digitally manipulated to attribute remarks to Modi that he never made.
