Announcement of the need for non-Kuwaiti teachers in October

While the relevant authorities at the Ministry of Education are working to expedite preparations for the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, which will begin with school staff reporting for duty on September 7, the concerned departments within the Ministry are continuing procedures to secure human resources to ensure stability in the educational field and smooth operations in schools.

In this context, an educational source confirmed to Al-Jarida that the Ministry is currently preparing an announcement regarding job vacancies for non-Kuwaiti teachers in specialties facing shortages, such as chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The source indicated that the announcement is likely to be issued next October.

The source stated that the Ministry deliberately delayed the announcement to complete appointments for Kuwaiti teachers. He noted that the Ministry’s plan involves finalizing the hiring of all Kuwaiti candidates selected by the Civil Service Bureau or those who applied through the electronic portal. The Ministry will then assess its needs and determine the number of non-Kuwaiti teachers required before issuing the announcement.

He mentioned that the Ministry of Education is committed to prioritizing citizens, followed by the children of Kuwaiti women, then Gulf citizens, then the “Bedoon” category, and finally expatriates, filling shortages according to this established priority order. He emphasized that appointments are made based on actual needs in schools, ensuring there is no surplus in the specialties to be included in the teacher recruitment announcement.

The Ministry is experiencing a surplus in eight main specialties, mostly among females, with the exception of physical education, which shows a surplus among males. These specialties include Islamic studies, physical education, art education, French language, kindergarten education, social studies, psychology, and home economics. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Civil Service Bureau, has classified six educational specialties as “rare specialties” suffering from a severe shortage in the educational field, due to the percentage of Kuwaiti and Gulf teachers in them being below 30%. These subjects are mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

On another note, the Iyas bin Muadh Center, affiliated with the Summer Clubs, continues to offer its sports and educational programs aimed at utilizing students’ free time during the summer vacation, developing their physical and mental capabilities, and promoting healthy practices through various sports activities.

The center’s director, Shakir Hussein, stated that the center provides specialized training programs in three sports: football, handball, and basketball. He explained that students are divided into three educational stages: primary, intermediate, and secondary, with specific training times for each stage according to a schedule organized by the center’s administration, tailored to students’ ages and needs.

Hussein clarified that the summer clubs aim to achieve a set of educational and sports objectives, primarily developing students’ mental and physical capabilities, training them to wake up early and adopt healthy dietary habits, and utilizing their time during the summer away from sedentary lifestyles.
