Cooperative Union Gives Associations 30 Days to Kuwaitize Al-Tamween Officials

Al-Jarida has learned that the Federation of Consumer Cooperative Societies issued a circular to the boards of directors of the cooperatives, urging them to implement the Ministry of Social Affairs’ instructions regarding the Kuwaitization of the position of Supply Branch Manager, and to complete the required procedures in line with the directives of the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, to Kuwaitize support roles, similar to supervisory positions in the cooperative sector.

According to sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Federation called on the executive bodies of the cooperatives to review the Ministry’s letter and act accordingly, setting a 30-day deadline from the date of the circular’s issuance to take the necessary measures and inform the relevant authorities of the actions taken.

The sources added that, in implementation of the Ministry’s directives, the Federation emphasized that the position of Supply Branch Manager must not be assigned to a non-Kuwaiti employee if a qualified national candidate meeting the job requirements is available, granting priority to Kuwaiti talents working within the cooperatives during the nomination and appointment procedures.

It was clarified that if a cooperative lacks a national candidate qualified for the position, it must notify the Ministry of Social Affairs of the reasons, enabling coordination with relevant authorities to provide suitable national talent.

The sources noted that, as part of efforts to enhance citizen participation in the cooperative sector, empower them to hold supervisory and support roles, and improve institutional performance, the Ministry of Social Affairs will monitor the cooperatives’ compliance with completing the Kuwaitization procedures within the specified deadline, and ensure that qualified national candidates are given priority for the Supply Branch Manager position.
