Gulf Air Expands Its Route Network in Egypt

Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost carrier in Kuwait, has announced the launch of direct flights between Kuwait and Aswan, a new step that expands its network of destinations in Egypt to provide travelers with new options and easier access to one of the country’s most prominent historical destinations.

The airline will operate this new route between Kuwait International Airport and Aswan International Airport starting October 25, with four weekly flights.

For his part, Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohamed Gaber Aboulwafa, said: “I am delighted to join Jazeera Airways in launching its new route to Aswan, making it the airline’s ninth destination in Egypt. This step reflects the depth of Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations and the importance of the Egyptian market within Jazeera Airways’ network. On this occasion, I congratulate the company’s management and team on inaugurating the new route, and I appreciate their ongoing interest in the Egyptian market and their expansion into various Egyptian cities, which reflects the strength of travel movements and ties between our two countries. We also appreciate the care that fraternal Kuwait extends to the Egyptian community on its soil.”

He added: “We view direct flight routes as more than just a means of transportation; they are bridges connecting peoples and an important tool for stimulating tourism, trade, investment, and cultural and social exchange. The easier the movement between Egypt and Kuwait becomes, the broader the opportunities for cooperation in all fields, and the stronger the popular, economic, and commercial ties between our two brotherly countries.”

He continued: “Choosing Aswan as the new Egyptian destination holds special significance. Aswan is not only one of Egypt’s most prominent tourist and cultural destinations, with its ancient history, unique monuments, and stunning natural scenery along the Nile banks, but it also represents an important gateway to southern Egypt and a cultural and economic center with great and diverse potential. This route also carries direct humanitarian and social importance, given the presence of a large Egyptian community in Kuwait, including many residents from Aswan Governorate and other Upper Egyptian governorates. Therefore, providing direct flights from Kuwait to Aswan will offer suitable travel alternatives for members of the Egyptian community and their families, saving time and effort, and strengthening continuous communication between them and their homeland and families.”

Jazeera Airways currently operates flights to eight destinations in Egypt, including: Cairo, Sphinx, Alexandria, Assiut, Luxor, Sohag, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Hurghada. With the launch of flights to Aswan, the airline’s ninth destination in Egypt, Jazeera Airways is strengthening its broad presence in the Egyptian market, which is considered one of its most important markets.

The new route provides a direct and comfortable connection for the large Egyptian community living and working in Kuwait, facilitating their travel to visit family and friends, while also supporting the growing tourism movement between Kuwait and southern Egypt.

For his part, Prathan Pasupathy, CEO of Jazeera Airways, said: “More than 690,000 Egyptians reside in Kuwait. Egypt has always been a key market for Jazeera Airways. Since launching our flights to Alexandria in 2006, we have continued to expand our presence in the Egyptian market, and today we serve eight cities across the country. We are pleased to expand our network today to nine cities in Egypt with the launch of our direct flights to Aswan, where our growing presence throughout Egypt reflects the strong and continuous demand for competitive, easy, and comfortable travel options between Kuwait and Egypt.”

He added: “Aswan is a distinctive addition to our destination network, providing an important direct connection for families and communities, while simultaneously offering easier access to one of Egypt’s most unique tourist destinations.”
