Trump posts image of the Strait of Hormuz with the caption “New American Land”

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump posted an image on his Truth Social platform showing the Strait of Hormuz encircled, with the caption “New American Land” placed above the strategic waterway located between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman at the entrance to the Persian Gulf.

The post came a day after Trump described the idea of declaring the Strait of Hormuz a U.S. territory as “a great idea,” in his latest remarks regarding the future of the waterway amid the conflict with Iran.

Meanwhile, Trump announced that there are currently no ongoing or upcoming discussions with Iran, affirming that the sanctions imposed on Iranian ports remain in effect.

He stated on Truth Social, “There are currently no talks or discussions underway or scheduled with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The maritime blockade remains fully in effect and operational. The Strait of Hormuz is open and functioning normally, and all naval mines have been removed or detonated.”
