US President Donald Trump said today that he is not seeking to extend the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran unless the deal he deems essential is concluded, clarifying that he believes Iran wants to reach an agreement but will not conclude that deal.

Trump reiterated his assertion that his primary objective is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, emphasizing that it will not obtain one.

He also noted that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz through the naval blockade imposed on Iran, and that it could mine the strait, but the blockade on Iran is effective, the Strait of Hormuz remains open, and oil prices continue to fall.
