Al-Mutairi: 'Stories and Tales' Exhibition Attracts Children

The “Stories and Tales of Children’s Books” exhibition continues to showcase its publications at the Kuwait National Library, as part of the activities of the “Cultural Summer 18” festival, organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. This initiative reflects the Council’s commitment to fostering a reading culture among children and adolescents, and enhancing the presence of books in their daily lives, thereby contributing to the development of a generation that loves knowledge and learning, and is capable of discovering new worlds through reading.

On this occasion, Dalal Al-Mutairi, Head of the Children’s and Adolescents’ Festivals Department at the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, stated that the exhibition features a curated and diverse selection of publications issued by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, aimed at children, alongside a number of books and stories that encourage reading and support children’s literature in Kuwait. The goal is to offer distinguished literary and cultural content that attracts children, encourages them to discover the joy of reading, and makes books a close companion and lifelong friend in their lives. She noted that, in order to reach as many children as possible, the exhibition includes an initiative to distribute books and stories free of charge to visiting children, serving as an additional incentive for them to read and learn, and giving them the opportunity to acquire a book suited to their interests and enjoy reading it after leaving the exhibition.

Al-Mutairi highlighted the active participation of young volunteers, who contribute daily to organizing events, welcoming visitors, guiding children, and helping them explore the exhibition’s contents.

She emphasized that this participation reflects the Council’s interest in providing adolescents with practical experiences that enhance their self-confidence, support their communication and teamwork skills, and foster a sense of responsibility. The involvement of young volunteers represents an important model of community partnership in cultural events, as its benefits extend beyond supporting and organizing the exhibition activities to instilling values of initiative, generosity, and volunteerism in the participants.
