Europe Cleans the Towers... India's Ambassador as a Role Model

Cleanliness and community service brought Europe and India together. While the European Union’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Anne Kustinen, descended to the shores of the Kuwait Towers to participate in a beach-cleaning campaign, the Indian Ambassador to the country, Paramita Tripathi, and embassy staff chose to mark the 80th anniversary of their nation’s independence in a different way. After the celebration ceremony and the raising of the Indian flag, they picked up brooms and personally joined a cleaning campaign inside the embassy building, sending a message that serving the country is not limited to words and ceremonies, but also begins with the simplest daily practices.
Photos showed the ambassador and embassy staff participating in the cleanup, a scene that reflected teamwork, humility, and responsibility, transforming the Independence Day atmosphere into an occasion to underscore the importance of preserving the environment and public facilities.
The scene seemed to convey that celebrating the nation is not only about raising the flag, but also about contributing to making it cleaner and better, offering a practical embodiment of the philosophy of “Swachhata Hi Seva,” which links cleanliness with community service. The initiative, organized by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait under the slogan “Cleanliness is Service,” was a practical translation of the values of cleanliness, civic responsibility, and teamwork.
Turning back to Europe, but from the Kuwait Towers, a photo was published of Ambassador Kustinen participating in the cleanup, accompanied by the caption “Together for cleaner beaches,” reaffirming that such initiatives aim to promote sustainable practices, raise awareness about the importance of protecting the marine environment, and encourage cooperation with the local community.
