Ahmed Ezz pays 570,000 pounds and avoids prison

An Egyptian family court ruled yesterday that the detention lawsuit against actor Ahmed Ezz was terminated through a settlement, after he paid 570,000 Egyptian pounds, representing the frozen salary of a nanny, in the case filed by actress Zina.

Earlier, the Cairo New City Court of Appeals for Family Matters had rejected a petition submitted by Ahmed Ezz against the ruling that ordered him to pay Zina 30,000 Egyptian pounds as a nanny’s salary, upholding the decision in this regard.

The court also accepted the appeal filed by Zina against Ahmed Ezz, ordering him to pay 30,000 Egyptian pounds monthly for the nanny of her twins. During the appeal proceedings, Zina’s lawyer submitted a file of documents to the court, which included Ahmed Ezz’s new artistic works, as well as his participation in several advertisements.

In a related development, the Cairo New City Court of Appeals for Family Matters previously issued a ruling ordering Ahmed Ezz to pay monthly child support for Zina’s twins, after reducing the amount awarded by the court of first instance from 80,000 pounds to 60,000 pounds monthly. The first-instance ruling had ordered Ahmed Ezz to pay 80,000 pounds in monthly child support, citing evidence that he had received a high salary for his participation in the film “Wled Rizk,” which the court relied on when determining the amount of child support.
