Liverpool beat Italian side Como in final pre-season friendly ahead of new campaign

Liverpool concluded their preparations for the new season with a 2-0 victory over Italian side Como in a friendly match on Sunday.
Liverpool scored both goals in the first half, taking the lead through Dutch striker Cody Gakpo in the 23rd minute at Anfield.
The Reds will begin the new campaign under the guidance of Spanish manager Andoni Iraola, who took charge this summer, replacing Dutch coach Arne Slot. Slot departed after two seasons, during which he led the team to the Premier League title in 2025 before results deteriorated last season.
Liverpool will start their season with a tough away fixture against Newcastle United next Sunday in the opening round of the Premier League.
Como, managed by young Spanish coach Cesc Fàbregas and preparing to compete in next season’s UEFA Champions League, will open their league campaign with an away match against Udinese on Saturday.
