Interior Ministry: Foiled attempt to smuggle 2 kg of methamphetamine; Asian suspect apprehended for trafficking

The General Directorate for Combating Narcotics thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, arresting an Asian national after it was established that he was involved in importing the shipment from an Asian country with the intent to traffic it within Kuwait. This operation is part of the continuous security efforts to combat the smuggling and distribution of narcotics and to pursue those involved.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that investigative and surveillance activities revealed the shipment had arrived via cargo. The narcotics were cleverly concealed inside several books in an attempt to disguise them and evade inspection procedures. However, the vigilance of the narcotics officers led to their discovery and the arrest of the suspect.

The ministry added that appropriate legal measures were taken against the suspect, who was referred along with the seized items to the competent authorities. Coordination was also established with the relevant authorities in the country of origin to take the necessary actions regarding the incident.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued efforts to combat the smuggling and trafficking of narcotics, monitoring various new methods and techniques used for smuggling, and dealing firmly with anyone attempting to import or traffic these substances, thereby contributing to the protection of societal security and the safety of its members.
