Kuwait University and the Giftedness Center Conclude the Scientific Majors Awareness Program for High School Students

Kuwait University recently concluded the PRE 2026 program, designed to prepare high school students for university studies and introduce them to scientific majors, in collaboration with the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, a center under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. The program was held under the patronage of the University’s President, Dr. Dina Al-Milhem.
Dr. Abdullah Sultan, Vice President for Research at Kuwait University, emphasized that the University believes its role extends beyond providing higher education to fostering community partnerships, building bridges of communication with students at various educational stages, and helping them discover their abilities and academic interests. This contributes to empowering them to make more informed decisions regarding their academic and professional futures.
Speaking on behalf of the University President, Sultan noted that the program provided students with a two-week opportunity to closely explore the fields of medicine and engineering from both theoretical and practical perspectives. He highlighted the participation of 23 students in the College of Engineering program and 40 students in the College of Medicine program, commending their demonstrated passion and determination in exploring new scientific horizons.
He expressed his gratitude to the academic staff and organizers for their efforts, which contributed to delivering a fruitful educational experience for the students. He congratulated the participants on their achievements and wished them success and future contributions to the service of Kuwait.
The program featured a comprehensive academic experience that combined specialized lectures, workshops, practical experiments, field visits, and direct interaction with academics and specialists in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The medical track included specialized workshops and experiments on the use of medical equipment, handling emergency cases, visits to the medical library and hospitals, as well as training in laparoscopic and simulated surgery, laboratory demonstrations, and meetings with practicing physicians.
The engineering track comprised lectures, architecture experiments, engineering competitions, artistic experiments, and field visits to the Ahmed Al-Jaber Oil and Gas Exhibition and the Science Center, along with activities involving 3D printing and the use of CNC machines.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Adnan Abul, Acting Dean of the College of Medicine; Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum; Nada Al-Daihani, General Manager of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity; along with several members of the academic staff and program organizers.
