Frattesi joins Lazio on loan

International midfielder Davide Frattesi has moved from Inter to Lazio on a one-year loan with an option to buy, according to an announcement by the two Serie A clubs on Friday.

The Italian champions stated: “Inter announces the transfer of Davide Frattesi to Lazio Rome. The midfielder has been loaned to the Biancocelesti until the end of the season, with an option to purchase.”

Frattesi, 26, returns to the club where he began his youth career, before moving to their rivals Roma, and then to Sassuolo, where he established himself between 2021 and 2023. He made 122 appearances for Inter, scoring 15 goals across all competitions, and won the Serie A title twice (2024 and 2026) as well as the Coppa Italia (2026).

With 34 caps and eight goals for the Italian national team, Frattesi was a key figure in the plans of Inter’s former coach Simone Inzaghi, but his playing time decreased last season under the new Romanian manager Cristian Chivu. He will now seek to regain his form at a club going through a difficult period due to serious financial problems and widespread fan boycotts of home matches in protest against owner Claudio Lotito.
