White House official: No extension of ceasefire with Iran so far

A senior White House official told Politico that there has been no extension of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran so far.

He added that Iran has not yet shown a desire to negotiate and reach an agreement, and that talks with Tehran have been disrupted due to divisions within its power structure, which is split into three factions that sometimes differ fundamentally; reaching an agreement with one does not mean the others agree. He added, “Our objectives in the negotiations are clear, unlike Iran’s.”

He clarified that approval from all branches of Iran’s power structure is necessary for any agreement to be effective.
