Al-Watani organizes event on the shore of Umm Al-Maradom Island

As part of its efforts to engage with the youth and enhance their financial awareness, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) organized an event on the shores of Umm Al-Maradom Island, in collaboration with the Nomads290 team and Al-Rawdatayn Company. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among this important segment of society about the risks of financial fraud, providing guidance on fraud techniques and prevention methods, alongside distributing gifts to beachgoers.
This initiative is part of a series of activities and events conducted by NBK to support the “Let’s Be Aware” campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banks Association, in cooperation with local banks. The campaign aims to raise the level of banking and financial awareness among members of society, strengthen concepts of cybersecurity, and protect personal and banking data.
The event witnessed widespread interaction from island visitors and water sports enthusiasts, particularly the youth, whose interests align with such activities. The NBK team ensured direct engagement with the public, educating them about the most prominent fraud and scam methods targeting customers, especially via text messages, phone calls, and fake links. Practical advice was also provided to help individuals protect their personal information and banking data.
On this occasion, Saud Al-Asaker, Senior Digital Communications Officer at NBK, stated: “The Bank believes that effective financial awareness extends beyond traditional channels; it requires reaching members of society in various locations and interacting with them directly, thereby reinforcing financial security concepts and enhancing their ability to confront growing risks associated with electronic fraud. From this perspective, this event at Umm Al-Maradom Island, in collaboration with the Nomads290 team and Al-Rawdatayn Company, provided a direct communication platform with the public in a vibrant environment that brings together sea lovers, enabling the delivery of awareness messages in a more impactful and relatable manner.”
Al-Asaker added: “Financial fraud methods are continuously evolving alongside technological advancement and rapid digital transformation, making community awareness the first line of defense in protecting individuals from falling victim to these practices. Therefore, NBK continues to support the ‘Let’s Be Aware’ campaign by implementing a variety of field and awareness initiatives aimed at informing customers and the public about the latest fraud techniques, emphasizing the importance of not sharing banking data, passwords, or verification codes with any party, and avoiding suspicious links or fake offers. We also strive to provide practical guidance that contributes to enhancing the safe use of digital banking services, supporting efforts to build a more aware community capable of protecting itself from financial and electronic risks.”
