Stock Market Indicators Rebound with 67.8 Million KD in Liquidity

Kuwait Stock Exchange indices regained their upward trajectory during the penultimate session of the week’s trading, closing with similar gains after a period of divergence in previous sessions.

This performance and rebound coincided with positive developments related to negotiations between the United States and Iran, and rumors of a potential permanent peace agreement. These factors had a limited impact on trading activity, as investors remained cautious and the final outcome remained unclear, keeping risk levels high.

Trading liquidity decreased by 2.7 percent, recording KD 67.8 million, compared to KD 69.77 million in Tuesday’s session. The First Market continued to capture the largest share of liquidity, although its share dropped to 53 percent, while the Main Market’s contribution rose to 47 percent.

The First Market saw positive activity in several stocks, led by Awal Fuel, which topped the list of most-gained stocks with an increase exceeding 5 percent. Meanwhile, declines in First Market stocks remained limited, not exceeding 1 percent.

On a broader market level, Midan topped the list of most-gained stocks with a 10 percent rise, despite limited trading volumes. Conversely, Umm Al Quwain led the list of most-declined stocks, dropping by 4.35 percent.

A total of 133 stocks were traded; prices rose for 58 stocks, fell for 58, and remained stable for 17. Weighted indices rose for six sectors, led by Healthcare by 6.35 percent and Utilities by 0.68 percent. Indices for six other sectors declined, led by Technology by 2.48 percent and Basic Materials by 0.51 percent, while the Insurance sector’s index remained stable.

In terms of index performance, the General Market Index rose by approximately 24.61 points, or 0.28 percent, to reach 8,860 points, with 267.7 million shares traded across 19,413 deals.

The First Market Index increased by 25.51 points, or 0.27 percent, to reach 9,313 points, with liquidity valued at KD 36 million, trading volumes of 88.6 million shares, and 8,899 deals.

The Main Market Index gained approximately 26.36 points, or 0.30 percent, closing at 8,893 points, with a traded value of KD 31.7 million, trading volumes of 179.1 million shares, and 10,514 deals.

As a result, the stock exchange’s market capitalization gained KD 145.2 million, reaching KD 53.01 billion, an increase of 0.27 percent compared to KD 52.87 billion at the close of Tuesday’s session.

Regarding the most-traded stocks by value, Al-Taksees ranked first with KD 7.1 million, closing at 162 fils. It was followed by Baitak with KD 4.5 million, closing at 777 fils, then Al-Watani with KD 3.9 million, closing at 876 fils, and Tijarat with KD 3.4 million, closing at 175 fils. Fifth was Cables with KD 2.1 million, closing at KD 1.709.

Maidan shares led the list of the most-gained stocks, rising 10 percent, albeit with a modest trading volume of just 393 shares, pushing the price to 1.023 dinars. It was followed by Wollert Capital, up 6.25 percent, with a trading volume of 1.67 million shares, bringing its price to 850 fils. Next was Al Saur, gaining 5.59 percent on a volume of 501,300 shares, reaching a price of 302 fils, and Tijara, up 5.42 percent with 19.6 million shares traded. In fifth place was Awal Fuels, rising 5.26 percent on a volume of 4.9 million shares, closing at 360 fils.

On the other side, Al Ajman shares led the list of the most-declined stocks, dropping 4.35 percent on a trading volume of 20,000 shares, to close at 132 fils. They were followed by Hotels, down 4.21 percent on a volume of 39,600 shares, falling to 182 fils, then Tharia, which declined 3.64 percent on a volume of 1.95 million shares, closing at 238 fils. Al Koot came next, down 3.30 percent, albeit with a very low volume of just 290 shares, dropping to 761 fils. In fifth place was Oصول (Assets), falling 3.08 percent on a volume of around one million shares, closing at 252 fils.
