Legislative proposal to protect children from media and digital exploitation

In line with the principle of protecting children and safeguarding their dignity and rights, I propose the enactment of legislation or a legal amendment that prohibits the filming and dissemination of children’s images or video clips via social media and digital platforms for commercial purposes or to achieve financial gain without clear legal safeguards. The proposal includes the following:

* A ban on filming and publishing content featuring children under the age of 16 in public material that generates financial or promotional returns.

* Criminalizing the exploitation of children to generate profits, increase views or advertising revenue, or gain fame at the expense of their best interests.

* Imposing financial and administrative penalties on anyone who violates the provisions of the law, with stricter penalties in cases where the publication causes psychological or social harm or violates the child’s privacy.

* Granting competent authorities the power to immediately remove violating content and take necessary legal action.

* Requiring digital platforms, in cooperation with competent authorities, to remove content that involves the exploitation of children.

The growing phenomenon of exploiting children in digital content for financial gain has become a cause for concern, as it may leave psychological, educational, and social effects that accompany the child into later stages of life. Therefore, legislative intervention has become essential to protect childhood, foster a healthy educational environment, and prevent children from being turned into means for profit or fame at the expense of their rights and dignity.
