Ukraine’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Maksym Subch, affirmed that the support provided by the Ukrainian community in Kuwait and the Embassy to Ukrainian children constitutes an important humanitarian message, confirming that they are not alone in facing the difficult circumstances imposed by the war.
This came during Ambassador Subch’s visit to the Chernihiv Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children in Ukraine, where he met with several children residing at the center. In a call with Al-Jarida from Chernihiv, in northern Ukraine, he described the meeting as “very warm and deeply moving.”
Subch expressed his sincere gratitude to the center’s director, Olena Hryhorivna Lukashenko, and to all its staff for their daily efforts and care for the children, praising what he described as “the great humanity, warmth, and care surrounding every child.”
He stated that the work of the center’s team, amid the difficult conditions Ukraine is enduring, deserves the highest appreciation, emphasizing that the staff are doing their utmost to ensure the children feel safe, protected, and cared for, helping them continue their education and lives and realize their dreams despite the war.
He noted that the visit also carried a message of solidarity from Kuwaiti citizens, as he delivered to the center, on behalf of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kuwait and the Ukrainian community in the country, a laptop computer, along with several caps handmade by activists from the charitable group Harryhats Kuwait.
He mentioned that the meeting with the children took place inside a shelter due to the ongoing war, expressing his regret that Ukrainian children have had to become accustomed to air raid sirens and hiding as the war continues. “But even under these circumstances, they continue to smile, draw, learn, and dream, giving us adults great faith in the future.”
He expressed his deep emotion over the gift presented to him by the center’s children—a painting titled “With Ukraine in Our Hearts”—considering it a beautiful symbol of friendship and solidarity, and affirming that distances do not prevent feelings of goodwill and support from reaching those in need.
He clarified that “the Ukrainian Embassy in Kuwait and the Ukrainian community will continue to support the center and its children,” stressing that “this assistance is not limited to providing material needs, but also carries a moral message to the children that there are people who remember them and care about them, and that they are not alone in facing difficulties.”
Subch affirmed, “We are convinced that supporting our children is an investment in Ukraine’s future. For their sake and for their peaceful future, we must do everything in our power.”
