Trump secretly left the NATO summit in Turkey on a non-Air Force One aircraft due to Iranian threats

The Washington Post reported on Monday that Donald Trump secretly left the NATO summit held in Turkey in early July on a plane other than Air Force One, due to Iranian threats.

The U.S. president’s return flight underwent a last-minute change, as Trump did not board the Boeing 747 that had taken him to Turkey, owing to security concerns raised about this new model of Air Force One, which had been gifted to him by Qatar.

The Washington Post noted that these measures were taken in response to threats from Iran, which shares a border with Turkey, against the U.S. president.

White House Communications Director Stephen Chung said in a statement sent to AFP: “There are numerous enemies of the United States who have us in their sights, and we are using every tool available to us to counter these threats.”

In addition, journalists aboard Air Force One were instructed, as is typically done in war zones, to keep the window blinds closed.
