Anthropic and Macquarie CICI Establish Joint Venture for AI Data Centers

The new partnership calls for the establishment of a joint venture named The Saws Infrastructure, which will operate as a developer of cloud computing sites for artificial intelligence, “primarily focused” on the United States, according to a statement by the three companies.

Bloomberg News noted that Macquarie Asset Management and GIC have committed to providing the majority of the funding for each project, while Anthropic has pledged to cover any increases in electricity prices for consumers resulting from the construction of new data centers at any site. The companies did not provide any details regarding spending plans or the scale of the projects.

This comes as banks and institutional investors race to fund infrastructure projects that support AI services, which companies like Anthropic say promise enormous economic gains. Meanwhile, the largest technology firms are spending vast sums on data centers and semiconductors.

Last year, Anthropic, which is preparing for a highly anticipated initial public offering, announced its intention to spend $50 billion on dedicated data centers at multiple sites in the United States, including in Texas and New York.
