Fire breaks out in a diesel tank at the Zawiyah Oil Depot in Libya

Al-Brega Oil Marketing Company announced that a fire accompanied by thick smoke broke out in gasoline storage tank No. 402 at the Zawia oil depot, after it was struck under circumstances whose causes remain unknown at present.

Firefighting, safety, and emergency teams immediately responded to the blaze in accordance with approved contingency plans, while simultaneously carrying out cooling operations on adjacent tanks to prevent the fire from spreading. The situation is being continuously monitored and damage assessed, with any updates to be announced as soon as verified information becomes available.

The company reiterated its urgent appeal to all parties to cease hostilities and stay away from oil facilities and depots, given the highly flammable materials they contain. Targeting or approaching these sites poses serious risks that threaten the lives of citizens, workers, and the surrounding area, as well as jeopardizing the continuity of fuel supplies.
