Iranian President: My Meeting with the Supreme Leader Lasted 7 Hours

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that he met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei for seven hours, discussing the living conditions of Iranians amid the current situation.

According to Sky News, Pezeshkian stated that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei “emphasized the preservation of national unity and cohesion, as well as concern for the people’s livelihood.”

Yesterday, the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, which has not made any public appearances since his appointment in March, announced that it had recently met with President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to AFP.

A statement said that “Pezeshkian met with Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei,” noting that the meeting coincides with the beginning of the third year of Pezeshkian’s presidential term.

Earlier this week, the Iranian president had stated that communication “is very difficult at present” with the Supreme Leader, who holds the final say on the country’s major policies.

Pezeshkian had announced in early May that he had met with Khamenei at an undisclosed time. The office of the Supreme Leader has not issued any comment on this matter.

Mojtaba Khamenei was injured, and his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was killed on the first day of the US-Israeli attack on Iran.
