Kuwait University Opens Applications for the Grade Improvement Program Until December 21
Kuwait University announced the opening of applications for the “Grade Improvement Students” system, in accordance with Law No. 76 of 2019 on Public Universities, for the 2026/2027 academic year, until Monday, December 21.
In a statement published on its website, the university clarified that the system allows students who were dismissed for the final time after the enactment of the Public Universities Law due to a low major GPA or overall GPA to continue their studies at the university at their own expense, after paying the required fees. These students will be registered under a new university ID and academic record under the designation “Grade Improvement Students under the Public Universities Law.”
The university specified that the conditions include that the student’s dismissal must not have occurred prior to the enactment of Law No. 76 of 2019, and that the dismissal must have resulted from exceeding the permitted number of warnings regarding the overall GPA according to the university’s established rules and regulations, or from exhausting the standard period for graduation while having warnings regarding the overall GPA, the major GPA, or both. Additionally, for Law College students, the number of allowed repetitions for the academic year must have been exhausted, and the GPA must have fallen below 70%.
The university noted that students are permitted to continue their studies at their own expense after prepaying the fees set by the executive regulations of the Public Universities Law. It specified that the fees amount to 230 Kuwaiti Dinars per credit hour in the Colleges of Humanities and 245 Kuwaiti Dinars per credit hour in the scientific colleges.
The university emphasized that students registered in the grade improvement system must meet the specific conditions for grade improvement within a maximum period of one academic year to be eligible for re-registration. It further stated that students are not allowed to interrupt their studies for more than one academic semester; if this period is exceeded, they will not be permitted to continue or re-register.
