Japan records a current account deficit of $583.45 million in June

Japan’s Ministry of Finance announced on Monday that the country recorded a current account deficit of 92.3 billion yen ($583.45 million) in June, whereas analysts had expected a surplus of 1.512 trillion yen, following a surplus of 3.968 trillion yen in the previous period.

This comes as Japan’s exports in June rose 16.3% year-on-year to 10.480 trillion yen, while imports increased by 24.3% to 10.615 trillion yen, resulting in a trade deficit of 135.2 billion yen.

Japan’s capital account recorded a deficit of 463 billion yen in June, while the financial account posted a surplus of 1.521 trillion yen.
