Canadian authorities said on Sunday that the massive wildfire in British Columbia remains out of control, but its rate of spread is slowing.
The fire has engulfed an area exceeding 100 square kilometers, forcing more than 20,000 people to evacuate their homes.
Emergency services are working to protect homes on the outskirts of the town of Summerland, which has a population of around 12,000.
Police are also investigating a report of a possible fatality, although this has not yet been confirmed.
The Canadian federal government has also pledged concrete assistance, including providing accommodation for those who have been evacuated.
Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olshevsky said on the platform X that a request for assistance submitted by British Columbia has been approved.
Emergency services are also receiving international support, including from Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.
