Minister of Education Inspects Educational Cultural Centers, Emphasizes Importance of Enhancing Students' Readiness for the New Academic Year
As part of the Ministry of Education’s commitment to enhancing students’ readiness for the 2026/2027 academic year, supporting academic achievement, reinforcing core skills, and providing an engaging learning environment during the summer break, Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai conducted an inspection tour of the Educational Cultural Center at Khalid Al-Mutaf School in the Capital Educational Zone. He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Eng. Hamad Al-Hamad, to review the progress of educational programs offered to students, monitor their implementation mechanisms, and assess the level of participation.
During the tour, Minister Al-Tabatabai inspected the classrooms and educational programs provided, and listened to explanations regarding the implementation of the educational plan and the targeted skills in core subjects. He also observed a portion of the interactive classes and activities, and met with several students and the teaching, supervisory, and administrative staff working at the center to learn about their experiences and hear their feedback on the programs offered.
Minister Al-Tabatabai emphasized that the launch of the Educational Cultural Centers aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to enhance students’ readiness for the new academic year, review and consolidate core skills, and address areas of weakness through engaging and motivating educational methods. He stressed the importance of utilizing the summer break to support academic achievement and restore students’ motivation toward learning, thereby preparing them to return to school with greater confidence and readiness.
Minister Al-Tabatabai noted that the growing interest in the Educational Cultural Centers reflects the keen interest of students and parents in the summer educational programs. He pointed out that 7,560 male and female students have enrolled in 12 free Educational Cultural Centers, which target students from the first grade of primary school through the ninth grade.
In light of this high demand and the Ministry’s commitment to providing opportunities for as many students as possible to benefit from the offered programs, the Minister of Education directed that the operating period of the Educational Cultural Centers be extended by one additional week. The programs will now continue until August 27, instead of August 19, allowing students to continue benefiting from the educational and interactive activities provided by the centers.
The Minister stressed that the objective of the centers is not limited to offering traditional remedial programs, but rather focuses on providing a more interactive and engaging educational experience. This is achieved through the use of active learning, play-based learning, and peer learning methods, alongside interactive activities, workshops, and competitions. These initiatives aim to develop students’ thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, while boosting their self-confidence.
Minister Al-Tabatabai emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring the quality of the programs offered and measuring the extent of student benefit, to ensure the achievement of desired educational goals and the optimal use of the summer break. He commended the efforts of the teaching, administrative, and supervisory staff working in the centers, highlighting their role in the success of the programs and in providing a motivating learning environment for students.
At the conclusion of the tour, the Minister of Education appreciated the efforts of all workers in the Educational Cultural Centers, reaffirming the Ministry’s continued monitoring of program implementation and evaluation of outcomes. These efforts aim to support students’ readiness for their return to school and to ensure a more prepared and stable start to the 2026/2027 academic year.
It is worth noting that the educational cultural centers, whose programs launched on August 2, offer free foundational courses in Arabic, English, and mathematics, under the supervision of specialized educational staff, according to educational plans prepared by the technical guidance departments, and focus on the essential skills and concepts needed to enable learners to transition to their next academic stage with greater readiness.
