Saint-Germain officially signs Lucas Digne until 2029

Paris Saint-Germain, the UEFA Champions League winners, announced on Sunday the signing of French international left-back Lucas Digne from English club Aston Villa.

In a statement on its official website, the French club said: “Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the return of Lucas Digne. The French international defender has signed a contract with the capital club until 2029 and will wear the number 12 shirt.”

Lucas Digne was born on July 20, 1993, in Meaux, Seine-et-Marne (Île-de-France). He progressed through the youth ranks of Lille OSC, making his professional debut in Ligue 1 at the age of 18.

His impressive performances with the northern club led to his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2013. During his first two seasons in the capital, the left-back played 44 matches and provided five assists for the team. Among his notable achievements are winning two Ligue 1 titles, the French Cup, the French League Cup twice, and three Trophée des Champions.

Digne has been a member of the French national team since 2014, earning 64 caps. He won the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the UEFA Nations League in 2021, and was part of the French squad that reached the final of UEFA Euro 2016 in France. The defender participated in the 2014 and 2026 World Cups, starting in six matches in the latter tournament and helping his team reach the semi-finals.
