Hamas reaffirms its commitment to the agreement on the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza
Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirmed on Sunday its commitment to the agreement reached with mediators and the “Peace Council” regarding the second phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a statement, the movement said, “Hamas reaffirms its commitment to the agreement reached with mediators and the Peace Council regarding the roadmap to complete the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and reiterates its seriousness in engaging responsibly in applying the agreed-upon terms within the fifteen points, and establishing a clear timeline for their implementation.”
The movement emphasized that “the priority in this phase must be ensuring the implementation of the agreement in all its stages and obligations, leading to a complete ceasefire, ending attacks on our people, completing the withdrawal, opening crossing points, and facilitating the entry of aid, shelter supplies, and launching the reconstruction process, as well as enabling the National Committee to assume its duties.”
The movement called on “mediators, guarantors, and the Peace Council to bear their responsibilities, ensure that all parties adhere to the agreed-upon terms, and prevent any violations or breaches that could disrupt the implementation process or undermine the ceasefire agreement.”
This comes after Netanyahu announced on Sunday that Israel rejects a 15-point document issued by the “Peace Council” regarding the Gaza Strip, insisting that the Israeli army will not carry out any withdrawal from the Strip until Hamas is completely disarmed.
Netanyahu said, at the beginning of a government session, according to his office’s publication, that “Israel rejects the 15-point document issued by the Peace Council regarding Gaza. The Israeli army will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed.”
He clarified that Israel is currently holding talks with the United States on this matter, noting that Washington has proposed ideas “some of which are acceptable to Israel and some of which are not.”
Netanyahu reiterated his rejection of establishing a Palestinian state, stating, “As long as I am Prime Minister, there will be no Palestinian state, neither in Gaza nor in the West Bank.”
The “Peace Council,” chaired by US President Donald Trump, had previously issued a 15-point roadmap on July 31 regarding the implementation of the next phase of the Gaza agreement, which includes halting military operations, transferring civil administration to the National Committee for Gaza’s management, taking heavy weapons, arms depots, military production facilities, and tunnels out of service, alongside arrangements for Israeli withdrawal.
