Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened unless the United States corrects its behavior toward Iran, stressing that Tehran will not back down from its demands, whether in war or in negotiations.

Mehran News Agency quoted Ghalibaf as saying in a message addressed to journalists and media professionals on the occasion of Reporter’s Day that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened unless the United States corrects its conduct.

He stated that the U.S. must definitively end the war and aggression against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq; lift the naval blockade; and withdraw U.S. military naval and air forces from the vicinity of Iran.

Furthermore, he said the U.S. must pay full compensation for the damages inflicted on Iran as a result of the two aggressive wars imposed upon it; lift the unjust and illegal sanctions imposed on the Iranian people; and unconditionally release the frozen and confiscated funds and assets of the Iranian people.

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council added that these demands reflect the aspirations of the Iranian people, who have remained continuously present for 160 days in confrontation zones and streets, voicing these demands.

Ghalibaf concluded his message by emphasizing: “The Supreme National Security Council will never back down, neither in war nor in negotiations.”
