Infantino needs 106 out of 211 votes to retain his position

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing a growing crisis with several confederations ahead of the presidential election scheduled for March 2027, as he needs 106 votes out of 211 to retain his position.

Al Arabiya reported today that UEFA, which comprises 55 member associations, has announced its opposition to Infantino and expressed a loss of confidence in him due to his proposal to sell World Cup quotas.

Meanwhile, the Asian Football Confederation rejected Infantino’s proposal, then welcomed its cancellation. The president of the Jordanian Football Association stated that he would not support the FIFA president.

Confederations from Qatar, Kuwait, and Egypt have renewed their confidence in Infantino, while the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, and Argentina have announced their support for him.
