Iran's 6 Conditions Hinder the Opening of the Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s leadership has characterized these demands as a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring the safe passage of ships, thereby dampening optimism regarding diplomatic mediation. These conditions have met with outright rejection from Washington and Gulf capitals, with the Trump administration insisting on opening the strait without conditions, while the United Arab Emirates condemned the targeting of oil tankers.

The six conditions proposed by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz include ending the maritime blockade, lifting all sanctions, releasing frozen assets, paying financial compensation, withdrawing U.S. forces, and halting threats and military operations. Tehran demands the removal of all economic sanctions, particularly those affecting the oil sector, and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from surrounding areas.
