Ministry of Education: Transfer of teachers and placement of inspectors... by the end of the month
As relevant departments in the Ministry of Education continue implementing measures related to the preparedness plan for the 2026/2027 academic year, the specialized sectors within the education sector are working on issuing transfer decisions for teaching staff, as well as decisions to fill vacant supervisory positions for educators who have completed the four stages of promotion under the new mechanism recently adopted by the Ministry.
In this context, educational sources confirmed to "Al-Jarida" that the Ministry is preparing to issue the transfer and placement decisions before the end of August, noting that the lists for transfers and promotions are ready and are currently undergoing final refinements prior to issuance, following verification that applicants meet all requirements and that vacancies are available in schools.
The sources clarified that the approved transfer decisions will be communicated sequentially to teachers who have applied for transfers. Teachers can verify the issuance of their transfer decision through the "Education" application under the "My Decisions" section, or via the Civil Service Bureau application. They added that transfer requests are subject to electronic controls and precise criteria designed to meet the actual needs of the educational field.
Regarding placement decisions for supervisory positions, the sources confirmed that a comprehensive review was conducted for vacant educational and administrative supervisory roles. The relevant authorities have completed these procedures and are now preparing to issue the decisions, which will be announced before the end of the current month or by the first week of September at the latest. This timeline allows newly appointed staff to complete their formalities before the start of the school year, scheduled for September 6.
Concerning new teacher appointments, the sources noted that the Ministry is proceeding with the appointment of Kuwaiti teachers nominated by the Civil Service Bureau in recent periods. The Ministry has a comprehensive appointment plan to ensure vacancies are filled and stability is achieved in the educational sector before the start of classes.
The Ministry has distributed medical examination forms to new teachers to be completed by relevant authorities in the Ministry of Health. Appointment procedures will commence once the education sector’s requirements are fulfilled, including interviews and tests for applicants who are not graduates of the Basic Education College or whose graduation from the Basic Education College occurred more than one calendar year ago.
A ministerial decision was also highlighted, requiring new teachers to begin work at centers designated by the Educational Affairs Sector and prohibiting transfers for three years following their appointment.
Regarding non-Kuwaiti appointments, the sources indicated that they will be limited to specialties experiencing staff shortages, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, English, and French. The Ministry has not yet issued the vacancy announcement for the 2026/2027 academic year, as the announcement is undergoing review and verification and is expected to be released soon.
It is worth noting that the total number of new teachers appointed during the 2025/2026 academic year was approximately 1,100, aimed at addressing immediate school needs. Priority was given to graduates of local teacher preparation colleges at Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) among Kuwaitis and children of Kuwaiti women.
