Falcons sell for $144,000 at the International Falcon Auction in Riyadh

Two falcons were sold to the Canadian Jim Wilson Farm for a total of 540,000 Saudi riyals (approximately $144,000), as part of the proceedings of the first night of the 2026 International Falcon Farming Auction, currently organized by the National Center for Falconry at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh.

The evening began with the first falcon, a Ger Baur chick, with bidding starting at 50,000 Saudi riyals before it was sold for 380,000 riyals. Subsequently, the second falcon, a Ger Mutloth chick, was presented, with bidding commencing at 50,000 riyals and concluding at a sale price of 160,000 riyals.

The auction provides a reliable platform for elite falcons from around the world, featuring a fast-paced, competitive live bidding process that brings together falconers and producers from Saudi Arabia and various countries worldwide. The event’s activities are broadcast through television channels covering the event and via live streaming on the National Center for Falconry’s social media platforms.

This year’s auction introduces a new feature: all rounds of the “Chick” category in the Mulwah falconry competitions are now dedicated to falcons sold at the International Falcon Farming Auction. This links the displayed and sold falcons to the competitive pathway, giving falconers seeking birds for these rounds the opportunity to select directly from the output of local and international farms.

It is worth noting that the 2026 International Falcon Farming Auction involves falcon farms from around the world and will continue until August 25. In 2025, the auction recorded the sale of 1,103 falcons from 67 farms belonging to 23 countries, including 19 Saudi farms, achieving sales exceeding 13 million riyals.
