Gustavo Petro takes the oath of office as President of Colombia

Abelardo de la Espriella, the winner of the Colombian presidential election, took the constitutional oath today as president of the country, following his victory in the runoff held last June.

During his campaign, the 48-year-old right-wing lawyer pledged to combat armed groups, reduce the size of the government apparatus, and revive the oil and gas sector.
