The Kuwaiti national under-17 boys’ volleyball team delegation departed today (Friday) from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, en route to Manama to compete in the second Arab Men’s Under-17 Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place from August 7 to 17 next month, with six Arab national teams participating.

The team concluded its preparatory camp in Cairo yesterday, playing four friendly matches. They secured one victory against the Qatari under-17 national team and suffered three defeats against the Egyptian national team. The technical staff described these matches as a valuable experience for assessing the players’ capabilities ahead of the official competition.

Al-Rais emphasized that the national team enters the tournament with high morale and full readiness, noting that the final camp achieved its technical and tactical objectives. He highlighted the players’ strong commitment to instructions and their extra efforts during the preparation period. Furthermore, he confirmed that the squad is free from significant injuries, granting the technical staff greater flexibility in selecting the optimal lineup for each match.

The championship will be held in a single-round league format, featuring the national teams of Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Algeria. Kuwait’s under-17 squad will kick off their campaign with a match against Saudi Arabia on August 9. The opening round will also see Jordan face Egypt, and Algeria take on Bahrain. The tournament serves as a crucial milestone for testing the young players’ abilities and showcasing their talents against strong opposition, amid fan expectations that the national team will demonstrate the progress of Kuwaiti volleyball in the youth categories.
