Ministry of Health and US Mayo Clinic launch platform for training health personnel
The Ministry of Health launched today, Wednesday, a training platform for health personnel in collaboration with the US Mayo Clinic, through a series of lectures delivered by experts and specialists from the hospital, presenting the latest developments shaping the future of medicine, scheduled for August 18.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah told KUNA that the cooperation between the ministry and Mayo Clinic represents an important opportunity for collaboration in various fields to gain medical expertise and benefit from it.
Sheikh Dr. Salman Al-Sabah added that what distinguishes Mayo Clinic is not only its clinical aspects but also its management and policy-making dimensions, making it one of the most important hospitals worldwide.
He emphasized that Kuwait possesses the necessary infrastructure to achieve future goals for sustainable healthcare, which will reflect on the scope of opportunities available, looking forward to Mayo Clinic’s contribution in this regard.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services at the ministry, Dr. Hisham Kalander, told KUNA in a similar statement that the platform aims to transfer expertise between the ministry and the hospital and share the latest health practices that will positively impact service levels and the quality of care provided to both citizens and residents.
Dr. Kalander added that launching the platform marks the beginning of a series of other projects, consisting of a set of lectures continuing for more than a year on a monthly basis with various topics aimed at developing the healthcare system.
On his part, Medical Director of Mayo Clinic in the Middle East, Dr. Omar Ghanem, told KUNA in a similar statement that they have launched today, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in Kuwait, a series of lectures that enable doctors in Kuwait to benefit from the medical expertise and information provided by a select group of specialists at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Ghanem added that Mayo Clinic is not limited to clinical aspects alone but also extends to research, as it has 22 main research laboratories and spends approximately $1.3 billion annually on research, an investment that reflects the significant interest in this field.
