Syrian Defense Ministry: Raising military readiness

Sources close to the Syrian Ministry of Defense revealed that readiness levels have been raised across all military sectors.

The sources told the Associated Press (AP) that an order was issued by the army command on Tuesday to raise readiness, without specifying whether this was part of routine procedures conducted by military units to test their readiness speed.

The sources ruled out the possibility of military action, but suggested that the Syrian government may have received warnings about operations planned by Iraqi factions along the Syrian-Iraqi border.

Iraqi factions have threatened on multiple occasions to target military units stationed in areas along the Syrian-Iraqi border.
