Balqees: "Lemon Blossom" – A Special Message for Mothers
Singer Balqees Fathi released the first music video from her latest album, “Ghill,” featuring the song “Zahr Lemon,” which is now available on her official YouTube channel and all major music platforms.
The music video adopts a compelling dramatic format, going beyond a mere visual translation of the romantic lyrics to tell the story of a mother who dedicated her life to raising her son alone, shedding light on the daily sacrifices endured by many women.
Drawing inspiration from real-life events, the video carries a humanistic message celebrating mothers who face life’s responsibilities single-handedly, giving their children love and security despite hardships. Coinciding with the release, Balqees shared a personal message with her followers on Instagram, accompanying the video with the words: “From my heart to the heart of every woman and every man raised by a woman.”
“Zahr Lemon” exudes warmth and genuine emotion. The lyrics were written by Adham Khreibi, with music composed by Ahmad Barakat. Hussam Al-Saabi handled the arrangement, mixing, and mastering, while director Dan Haddad crafted a realistic visual narrative that enhanced the work’s humanistic tone.
Balqees concluded the video with an emotional tribute to every mother who has shouldered the responsibility of her family alone, stating: “A salute to every woman whom circumstances forced to bear the burden of managing an entire household with a single heart. Perhaps no one applauds her, but her pride lies in the fact that she shaped a human being. A salute to every woman whom circumstances forced to raise children who believe heroes are merely characters in movies, while their true hero waited for them every evening at home, releasing their shouts with the word: ‘Mama.’”
She also clarified the appearance of her son Turki in the “Zahr Lemon” music video, revealing that the child featured was not actually her son, but a stand-in actor who portrayed his role. This revelation reportedly made her son jealous.
Regarding her relationship with her son, Balqees affirmed that he remains her top priority in life. Although he is now eight years old, he possesses a level of awareness far beyond his age, particularly concerning her personal life.
Balqeis previously released her album “Ghill” last May, which includes eight diverse tracks: “Ana Hina” (I Am Here), “Zahr Lemon,” “Al Hob Yahla” (Love is Sweet), “Dalla Ya Qamar,” “Ya Hazz Ummi,” “Ya Harsh,” “Ghill,” and “Drama.”
The album reflects Balqees’s commitment to delivering a fresh musical experience, blending romantic and dramatic songs with contemporary rhythms. She also navigated multiple dialects, ranging from Gulf to Lebanese and Moroccan, a strategic move aimed at reaching a broad audience across the Arab world.
