Ajax signs Ter Stegen from Barcelona on a one-year loan

The Amsterdam-based club Ajax announced on its official website that it has reached an agreement with Barcelona and its goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The 34-year-old goalkeeper will join the Dutch club on a one-year loan from the Spanish side.

Ter Stegen was born on April 30, 1992, in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and began his professional career with Borussia Mönchengladbach. After three and a half seasons, during which he made 127 appearances for his hometown club across all competitions, he joined Barcelona in 2014.

Since then, he has made 423 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, winning numerous titles with the club, including the UEFA Champions League and seven La Liga championships.

The German international, who has earned 44 caps for the national team, spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish club Girona, under manager Michel Sánchez.

Jordi Cruyff, Ajax’s sporting director, commented on the transfer, stating, “Marc has an impressive record of achievements, and his qualities are widely recognized. He is an immediate addition to our team.”
