Chelsea signs Argentine player Barco from Strasbourg

Barco has joined Dutch international Emmanuel Immobile, who also recently arrived at Chelsea from Strasbourg. This marks the 13th transfer between the two clubs, which are both owned by the same group, since the start of last season.
The 22-year-old player was part of Argentina’s squad that reached the final of the 2026 World Cup, making headlines for his altercation with English midfielder Jude Bellingham following his exuberant celebrations against the “Three Lions” players during the semi-final.
Barco is adept at playing as a left-back as well as in midfield, and previously had a brief stint in the English Premier League with Brighton three seasons ago.
He initially moved to Strasbourg on loan from Brighton in 2024, before signing a permanent deal a year later after helping the club qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
