117% growth in active trading accounts at the stock exchange

Active trading accounts at the Kuwait Stock Exchange rose by 117% on a year-on-year basis, increasing by approximately 28,977 accounts to reach 53,694 by the end of last July, up from 24,717 in July 2025.

From the beginning of the year, active accounts grew by 6,024, representing a 12.636% increase, rising from 47,670 in July 2025 to 53,694 in July 2026.

Total accounts across the market increased by 1.954%, with the total rising by 9,080 accounts from 464,639 to 473,719.

According to sources, the majority of these accounts are dormant due to the delisting rule and the decline in share prices of those companies in the OTC market. Additionally, a portion of these accounts is linked to public offerings.

However, as noted, they require a long-term institutional perspective to stimulate and activate them through a mechanism aimed at increasing private and public subscriptions, thereby bringing them back into the market and strengthening the investment culture among a large base of local investors.

In this context, the activity of this block of accounts could help mitigate declines in circulating liquidity levels, provided there is an expansion in investment tools that the market still lacks in practice.

In the same vein, figures revealed that trading at the exchange level increased by approximately 30.58% from the beginning of the year, with a decline of about 3.558 billion dinars over seven months.

Circulating market liquidity from the beginning of the year through the end of July 2026 reached approximately 11.633 billion dinars, compared to 15.191 billion dinars for the same period in 2025.

Institutional purchases accounted for 6.1 billion dinars out of the total circulating exchange liquidity over the seven months of 2026, representing 52.4%, reflecting the weight of market movements and the main sources of liquidity.
