Last July was the driest month in England and Wales in two centuries

The UK Met Office reported on Monday that a prolonged heatwave and lack of rainfall led to July being the driest month in England and Wales last month in nearly two centuries, according to provisional data.

The Met Office stated that all of Wales and more than half of England are officially experiencing drought conditions.

The drought was accompanied by high temperatures across most of the United Kingdom, following heatwaves in May and June.
