Banking Studies Launches the Fifth Edition of the "Risk Management Leaders" Program under the "Kafa'a" Initiative

As part of the Central Bank of Kuwait’s strategic efforts to build highly qualified national cadres across various financial and banking sectors, and to enhance capabilities in risk management—a field of critical importance for strengthening the banking environment and safeguarding financial operations—the Institute of Banking Studies has launched the fifth edition of the Risk Management Leaders Program. This program is one of the initiatives under the “Kafa’a” (Competence) initiative, led by the Central Bank in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and managed by the Institute of Banking Studies.
This was stated in a statement by Bassem Ahmed Al-Haroun, Governor of the Central Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Banking Studies, who noted that the program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions and develop effective risk management strategies in banks and financial institutions. The program spans five months, divided into four non-consecutive phases. The first and second phases are held in Kuwait and include training programs and practical lectures on risk management, conducted in collaboration with specialized global institutions to obtain recognized and specialized certifications. The program features multiple training tracks with professional local and international lecturers in the field. The third phase involves preparing and presenting case studies and graduation projects, followed by the fourth and final phase, where participants receive international training over two weeks in the United Kingdom in collaboration with the University of St Andrews Business School, which provides them with practical experience and professional competencies through workshops and interactive educational experiences. The program also covers travel, accommodation, and transportation costs.
Eligibility criteria for the program require applicants to be Kuwaiti nationals, hold a suitable university degree, and have at least five years of practical experience in a financial or economic institution in Kuwait. Applicants must also pass the required tests and personal interviews.
The “Kafa’a” initiative, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and managed by the Institute of Banking Studies, is a comprehensive strategic initiative aimed at building highly qualified national cadres and equipping them with the necessary knowledge to advance in their professional careers, while providing them with essential skills to become professional workforce members aligned with the rapid and continuous advancements in the financial and banking industry. The initiative also aims to provide institutions operating in this sector with competencies capable of filling senior management positions within those institutions.
