Tala Al-Dabbous Achieves Groundbreaking Academic Milestone by Developing a New Theory in Palliative Care

Dr. Tala Al-Dabbous has achieved an unprecedented academic milestone locally and regionally, becoming the first Kuwaiti and the first Gulf woman to earn a doctoral degree by developing a new theory in the field of palliative care at the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom. Her work is the first of its kind globally, marking a watershed moment in the development of this vital specialty across the region.

On this occasion, Dr. Al-Dabbous emphasized that this achievement marks the beginning of a new phase, opening broader horizons for researchers and specialists in palliative care, and expressed her hope that this success will encourage more young men and women from the Gulf to pursue this important humanitarian specialty.

Dr. Al-Dabbous currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Clinical Services at the Kuwait Association for Children in the Hospital (KACCH). She also leads the Abdullah Children’s Care Home (BACCH), which is the first specialized facility for children’s care in the region and the largest of its kind in the world built for this purpose. Additionally, she established the intravenous and enteral nutrition service at the Kuwait National Hospital for Children, and previously held the position of Head of Clinical Nutrition Specialists in the Intensive Care Unit at Al Adan Hospital. Due to her rare expertise, she is available to meet the needs of all hospitals in the country upon request.
