"Burqan" Honors Top High School Graduates... in Collaboration with the Ministry of Education
Driven by its firm belief in the importance of education as a fundamental pillar for building society and achieving sustainable development, Bank of Kuwait and the Arab Region (BKAR) organized a special ceremony to honor the top-performing students in the General Secondary School Examinations across Kuwait for the 2025/2026 academic year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The event celebrated outstanding students in both the scientific and literary streams, as well as graduates from the Ministry’s special education schools. In a gesture of appreciation, the bank also honored high-achieving children of its employees.
The ceremony was attended by Mariam Al-Anzi, Director of the General Administration of Supporting Educational Services at the Ministry of Education; Dana Al-Jassim, Director of Corporate Communications at BKAR; Ali Akbar, Deputy Head of Human Resources for the Group at the bank; members of the bank’s senior management; and families of the graduates. The event was marked by a joyful atmosphere, as students and their families celebrated this well-deserved success, which crowned years of perseverance, discipline, and dedicated effort.
The ceremony featured welcoming remarks by Ali Akbar, followed by the official honoring of the students and the distribution of shields and commemorative gifts. In a distinctive gesture, the graduates expressed their aspirations and future plans in their speeches, evoking pride and admiration among all attendees.
Speaking on the occasion, Al-Jassim stated that these initiatives reflect BKAR’s commitment to staying close to the community it serves and celebrating the people, stories, and achievements that help shape Kuwait’s future. She added: “Our corporate slogan, ‘You Are Our Motivation,’ embodies our commitment to listening to people, understanding their needs and aspirations, and building enduring relationships that contribute to a positive impact throughout various stages of their lives. Honoring Kuwait’s top graduates is one of the ways we translate our slogan into tangible reality, by recognizing young people’s efforts and supporting their journey toward further achievements and future successes.”
Through this initiative, BKAR continues to build bridges of communication between the bank and the community, between ambition and opportunity, and between today’s achievements and tomorrow’s potential.
Al-Jassim emphasized that the bank’s role extends beyond providing banking services, as it strives to strengthen its community presence, celebrate successes, and support initiatives that reflect the values, aspirations, and capabilities of its customers, in line with the bank’s corporate social responsibility strategy and its commitment to implementing best practices in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
For her part, Al-Anzi expressed the Ministry of Education’s pride in this fruitful collaboration with the bank, affirming that public-private partnership offers a model to be emulated in serving the community and advancing the education sector. She said: “We extend our thanks to BKAR for organizing this distinguished ceremony to honor our outstanding students across the State of Kuwait. For his part, Ali Akbar stated: “This ceremony is not merely a celebration of outstanding academic results, but a sincere recognition of young people’s ambitions, resilience, and latent potential, as they are the fundamental pillar in building Kuwait’s bright future. He added, “We feel immense pride and honor as we recognize the sons and daughters of Bank Burgan employees, outstanding students from special education schools, alongside our colleagues who have completed the Kafa’a and Burgan Cares programs. Following the keynote speech, the ceremony moved to its main segment, honoring top-performing students and valedictorians across Kuwait in both the scientific and literary streams. This gesture crowned exceptional efforts that reflect the results of years of focus, discipline, and determination, while also acknowledging the pivotal role of their families, schools, and teachers in supporting them to achieve this distinction.
In line with its commitment to the pillars of sustainability and its dedication to supporting all youth without exception, the bank honored outstanding students from special education schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education, who overcame various personal and academic challenges to achieve excellence.
Consistent with its annual tradition, Burgan honored the outstanding children of employees during the ceremony. This gesture underscores the bank’s unwavering commitment, as the first bank in Kuwait to receive the Great Place to Work® certification, to fostering a culture of appreciation and pride in its workforce. It also reflects the bank’s dedication to supporting its employees and their families, and valuing their efforts in raising a promising generation, knowledgeable and future-ready.
Furthermore, in alignment with Burgan’s vision and strategy to hone employee competencies and invest in human capital, the ceremony honored a distinguished group of employees who earned their master’s degrees under the Kafa’a program and bachelor’s degrees through the Burgan Cares initiative, recognizing their commitment and relentless pursuit of professional development.
Continuing its appreciation for the efforts of outstanding students and its commitment to empowering them to acquire future skills, the bank announced during the ceremony the organization of an educational workshop for the honored students in collaboration with CODED Academy. The workshop aims to focus on artificial intelligence and programming, while encouraging the younger generation to explore modern educational and technological opportunities that prepare them for various sectors in the job market, including the banking sector.
The workshop also includes an awareness session on the banking awareness campaign “Let’s Be Aware,” aimed at promoting sound banking culture and financial literacy among students. This initiative aligns with the bank’s commitment to supporting digital transformation in education, spreading financial literacy, and developing future skills among Kuwaiti youth.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees expressed their pride and honor in the outstanding students, wishing them continued success in their upcoming academic and university journeys.
