This came in a recorded speech delivered by the Egyptian Prime Minister during the opening of the seventh edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptians Abroad under the slogan “No matter how far we wander… Egypt brings us closer,” and lasting for two days.

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty emphasized the commitment to monitoring efforts to digitize consular services provided to Egyptians abroad, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications. Examples include reducing passport issuance time to less than two weeks, cutting the processing time for computerized birth certificates to 3–5 days, and increasing the number of authentication offices across the country to 40, according to Youm7.

Announcing the launch of the conference, the Egyptian Foreign Minister revealed the initiation of the first phase of a project to create an interactive website for Egyptians abroad, enabling them to access all consular transactions. He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with all Egyptian state institutions, the Central Bank, and Egyptian banks, has launched several initiatives in the past period that provide opportunities and benefits.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Egyptians Abroad stressed that caring for Egyptians abroad, protecting their interests, defending them, and preserving their dignity overseas is a noble responsibility and an honor we undertake, striving to fulfill it at the highest level of speed and efficiency. This is achieved through diplomatic missions abroad, through the ministry’s domestic sectors, and through all ministries in the Egyptian government.

For his part, Finance Minister Ahmed Kojok stated that a new electronic application regarding real estate transactions is scheduled to be launched this month, offering special facilitations for Egyptians abroad.

This was said during the conference’s general session, which is held under the theme “The State’s Policy for Caring for Egyptians Abroad.” The session covers the state’s vision for caring for Egyptians abroad, comprehensive development in Egypt and the role of Egyptians abroad, housing and urban development and available opportunities, healthcare services for Egyptians abroad, as well as financial policies, facilitations, and exemptions, as reported by Youm7.

Under the theme “Initiatives Targeting Egyptians Abroad,” the conference’s first day, during its second working session, focuses on initiatives such as “Your Home in Egypt,” “Your Farm in Egypt,” “Open Your Account in Egypt,” “Updating Bank Customer Data for Egyptians Abroad,” and the “Cultural Salon for Egyptians Abroad.”

On the second day, the conference will discuss, during two general sessions, the role of the House of Representatives and the House of Advisors regarding Egyptians abroad, and proposals to strengthen the connection of Egyptians abroad with their homeland, serve their interests, and maintain communication with them. It will also address consular services for Egyptians abroad through the digitization of consular services, passport and national ID card issuance and renewal services, a file for resolving military service status for young Egyptians abroad, and mechanisms for caring for Egyptian workers abroad.
